How do you feel? Some of you can answer that question with little thought. The words come like breathing. I often respond to that question with a pause because I don’t know how to describe how I’m feeling. To appease the questioner, I say I’m not sure.
Perhaps this is why many writers are introverts. We must think a good long while before expressing an emotion. It’s not as if we are not in touch with our feelings. Instead, we hesitate to comment on the inner workings of our hearts as we wait for those choice words—those choice words born of thought that prevent misunderstandings.
Sometimes, thinking for a long time brings tears, sometimes laughter, but most of the time, clarity. And when clarity comes, I can tell the story. Telling the story brings my heart to rest. In telling the story, I can make connections to God’s story—the story of God saving and redeeming a people for himself. I see how God uses this snapshot of my life for my good and his glory.
So, bear with me and those like me. The story will unfold. It might take a good long while for the story to emerge, but it will be worth waiting for.
